WARNETTE FOREVER.
I LOVE THEM.
CAN I JUST SCREAM WITH JOY PLEASE
y’all Chapter 55.
*coughs*
That will be all, thank you very much.
EEEEEEEEKKKKK NOPE WHO AM I KIDDING LET’S GET STARTED.
*cackles because she now gets to rave about her new favorite book*
warning: in the rest of the review, there will be spoilers for the first two books (Shatter Me and Unravel Me) but no spoilers for this book (Ignite Me).
I’m really too tired to figure out how I’m supposed to introduce this plot, so I’m just gonna give you the publisher’s summary.
I know. I’m a monster. Deal with it.
“With Omega Point destroyed, Juliette doesn’t know if the rebels, her friends, or even Adam are alive. But that won’t keep her from trying to take down The Reestablishment once and for all. Now she must rely on Warner, the handsome commander of Sector 45. The one person she never thought she could trust. The same person who saved her life. He promises to help Juliette master her powers and save their dying world . . . but that’s not all he wants with her.”
AHFUEFIEHFIESHDFIUESDHF “but that’s not all he wants with her” WARNER I CAN’T WITH YOU 😍😍😍
Ahem. Yes. I am focused. Warner later.
The plot was (if this is possible) more addictive than the two already addictive previous books. I literally could not put this book down and I’m so bloody happy about it. The world that had so much potential in Shatter Me has finally come into its own.
Now, I’m not saying that Ignite Me is some great work of dystopian literature. It’s not. It’s really cheesy in some places. Stuff is just stupid sometimes. But dang it all, Goodreads ratings are for my personal enjoyment and entertainment so FIVE STARS FOR YOU.
The writing was also miles improved from where it started. There were maybe two crossed out phrases. And the levels of purple in the prose has dropped soooo much *cries in relief*
did anyone else just find the crossed out words and purple prose the most annoying things on the planet bahaha
CHARACTERSSS.
beginning with Adam.
Alright. I tolerated Adam in Shatter Me. I baaareeellyyyy put up with his toxicity in Unravel Me.
BUT IN THIS BOOK? BOY GET OUT. JULIETTE IS NOT YOUR POSSESSION. YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE THE CLAIM OF BOYFRIEND ON HER. YOU TWO LITERALLY ACTUALLY BROKE UP LIKE TWICE.
*shoves Adam out of the universe*
Best just to forget about this one.
now on to Kenjiiii
I love this guy. He’s a born comedian, but he’s also got this honesty and strength about him that just makes him an amazing leader.
He also uses humor to cope, and that makes this boi the most relatable character I’ve read all year :)) I know I’ve said this before, but Kenji is still the only character in this entire bloody series with a sense of humor. Juliette’s definitely getting there, but nobody matches our Kenji <3
Speaking of Juliette, this girl has become a QUEEN. y’all Juliette has improved so much you would not even RECOGNIZE her from Shatter Me. She can kick butt with no qualms, channel/block her powers at will, make jokes, and self-assuredly lead a team. But more than all that: she knows who she is and just how much she’s worth.
we stan a confident queen 👏
now. onto the character who, let’s be honest, most of us are here only to see.
AAAAAARON WARNEEEEEEERR
YES YES YES YES I LOVE THIS MAN.
HE’S MADE IT THROUGH SO MUCH AND LOOK AT THE GLORY THAT HE BECAME. JUST LOOK AT HIM. HE’S SUCH A DEADLY LITTLE CINNAMON BUN #CHAPTER55
I NEED TO STOP SCREAMING IN ALL CAPS OMIGOSH ISABELLE SHUT UP.
*gasps*
have y’all seen the fanart of Warner? of Warnette? I’M GONNA CRY IT’S ALL TOO CUTE.
lol i really need to stop yelling.
it’s all vastly adorable and makes me feel very single, but Warnette is really my lifeblood (third favorite pairing behind Jurdan and Kanej ;) so i’ll get over myself.
*bawls for several hours because she wants a Warner*
it may take several decades, but i’ll get there eventually.
In terms of just everything Shatter Me Universe related, I wanted to mention that while I adored this first trilogy, I don’t think I’ll be reading the second trilogy anytime soon. Mainly because I’ve heard a lot of people say the plot becomes nonsensically convoluted, Adam completely disappears, Castle becomes a bit of a jerk, and even Juliette’s and Warner’s characters regress to their Shatter Me selves *sobs*
so for right now, it’s a no, but maybe someday i’ll find myself reading it.
because who can really stay away from Warner and Kenji? ;)
